"*To learn, and then to practise opportunely what one has learnt - does not this bring with it a sense of satisfaction*?" (Confucius; Analects Book 1)

My approach is to make lessons interactive and encourage students to find things out for themselves. I try to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and encourage questions.

A major advantage of one-to-one tuition is the interaction it allows which enables me to identify and focus on the problem areas very quickly.

I make sure that my students understand the fundamental principles behind the material, this then makes the subsequent detail much easier to comprehend and remember. I also like to point out
interconnections between related facts or principles which, again, aids understanding. Better understanding combined with practice leads to increased confidence. For specific exam
preparation I believe the best strategy is to work through past papers (which I can provide).

Some students come for tuition to support their studies at school or college whilst others may be re-taking certain units in which case I am able to devise extra practice and provide past papers.
I have also assisted adult learners who want to improve their maths GCSE result or perhaps aspire to a higher level qualification.

I offer tuition in maths and physics (KS3, GCSE and A level for both subjects). In addition I frequently teach International GCSEs (IGCSEs) and am familiar with all the major exam boards (eg Edexcel, AQA, OCR).

Both maths and physics A levels are now linear courses meaning that students are examined on the whole course
at the end of the two year period. A level maths consists of Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics and I cover all of these topics.

I've also successfully given online tuition in Scottish Standard grade, Intermediate and Higher maths and physics.
